City of Campbell’s Planning Division Receives 2024 Planning Agency Award of Excellence

Campbell, CA — The City of Campbell is proud to announce that its Planning Division has been awarded the 2024 Planning Agency Award of Excellence by the American Planning Association (APA), California Chapter. The APA is a professional organization that advocates for good planning practices. The program aims to encourage quality in planning and increase public awareness of the planning profession by acknowledging significant achievements in the field. 

This prestigious award recognizes the Planning Division for its exceptional performance and innovative contributions in delivering high-quality work typically associated with larger agencies.

Key achievements cited in the award application include:

• Successfully orchestrating a comprehensive update to the General Plan, Housing Element, and Zoning Ordinance.
• Developing new objective form-based development and design standards for multi-family residential development, all within an impressive 21-month timeframe.
• Crafting progressive land use policies that prioritize transit-oriented development and housing production.
• Preparing ordinances, handouts, and planning tools to implement state laws that have served as models for other planning agencies in the region.
