As a Campbell lifeguard you will be ensuring the safety of all patrons, teaching swim lessons, and working with a team of other safety conscious staff! Summer is jam-packed with recreation swim, youth and adult swim lessons, and staff bonding. Not certified? No problem! The City of Campbell is running two Lifeguarding Academies, one in April and another in May. The City of Campbell will be hosting our Keep America Beautiful on Saturday, June 13, 2026. Registration will start at 8:30 am and the event will kick off at 9 am and run until 12 pm at the south side of the Campbell Community Center track/field.

Our cleanup will focus on the following:

• Spreading mulch
• Planting a new tree

Rain or shine, volunteers will be asked to meet at the parking lot near the south side of the track at 8:30 am at which time they will sign in. instructions on safety and debris removal will be discussed. Gloves, vests and other tools will be available, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves and tools. Volunteers should dress appropriately for the event. 

Refreshments will be provided in the morning and the event will conclude with lunch served at noon.

Do something positive for your community! Volunteer, bring a friend or family member and make it a family event.

he Planning Commission is composed of seven members who advise the City Council regarding a full range of development-related issues, including amendments to the City’s General Plan and Zoning Ordinance.  Regular meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber of City Hall.  In addition to the regular meetings, study sessions are held periodically.   Additionally, members are periodically asked to serve on Planning Commission committees, including the Site and Architectural Review Committee.  Applicants should give full consideration to the time commitment required for service on this commission.  Eligibility Requirement:  Campbell resident and at least 18 years of age.

The Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee is composed of five members. The committee guides the development of bicycle and pedestrian planning and policies for the City. They also make recommendations to the City Council regarding the use of funds for bicycle and pedestrian related capital projects. To be eligible for appointment on this volunteer advisory committee, applicants must reside within Campbell City limits and be at least 18 years of age. The Committee meets on an as needed basis, but general meets bi-monthly. The Traffic Engineer Division of the Public Works Department provides the primary staff support and assists on an as-needed basis.

The City of Campbell has released the West Valley Homeless Services Feasibility Study (Public Review) for community input, which explores collaborative approaches to addressing homelessness in the West Valley. 

Campbell, CA — The City of Campbell has released the West Valley Homeless Services Feasibility Study, a comprehensive analysis examining how the Cities of Campbell, Cupertino, Monte Sereno, Saratoga, and the Town of Los Gatos can work collaboratively to address homelessness in the West Valley area.

The study is the result of a coordinated, multi-jurisdictional effort that began in 2024 and is intended to provide a clearer understanding of the scope and characteristics of homelessness in the West Valley, as well as identify effective and scalable strategies to address the issue at a sub-regional level. While homelessness in the West Valley remains smaller in scale compared to many urban areas, the study finds that it has increased in both visibility and complexity in recent years.

According to the 2025 Point in Time Count, the study also highlights several unique characteristics of the West Valley unhoused population, including a high proportion of individuals experiencing homelessness for the first time, long-term unhoused residents, and a notable number of families and youth.

The feasibility study evaluates opportunities for shared services, coordination, and regional partnerships to better align resources and provide resources that meet the specific needs of the West Valley unhoused community.

“This study gives us a shared understanding of the challenges we’re facing and the opportunities to work more effectively together as a region,” said Brian Loventhal, Campbell City Manager. “It provides a foundation for informed conversations and future collaboration among our partner jurisdictions.”

Campbell Police Department Receives International Award for Leadership in Public/Private Cooperation

Campbell, CA — The Campbell Police Department has been recognized on an international stage with the 2025 IACP Security Industry Association Leadership in Public/Private Cooperation Award at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Awards Banquet.

This prestigious award honors one law enforcement agency each year from nominations submitted around the world. This is an extraordinary accomplishment for both the Campbell Police Department and the City of Campbell.

This award is a testament to years of collaboration, innovation, and commitment to public safety. It reflects the efforts of the entire department, from those implementing and managing new technologies to the officers and staff who use them every day to support the Campbell community.

“Our partnerships with companies like Axon, Dedrone, MatrixSpace, DroneSense, Bosch, and SiFly have helped push the boundaries of what’s possible in modern policing,” said Police Chief Gary Berg. “But the real story isn’t about technology, it’s about how these tools empower our officers to do a difficult job a little easier, a little safer, and a little smarter.”

This recognition also highlights Campbell’s broader culture of innovation, trust, and collaboration. City of Campbell’s Finance Department Receives GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting

The City of Campbell is proud to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024. This marks the 36th consecutive year that the City has received this honor, highlighting its steadfast commitment to fiscal transparency and accountability.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest accolade in the field of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Established in 1945, the GFOA's Certificate Program was created to motivate and assist state and local governments in exceeding the minimum requirements set by generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The program encourages the preparation of financial reports that reflect full disclosure and transparency, promoting a higher standard of public accountability.

The City's financial report underwent a rigorous evaluation by a panel of experts, who assessed its ability to meet the high standards of the Certificate Program. The report was evaluated based on the quality of its presentation, adherence to GAAP, and its commitment to full disclosure.

Child Passenger Safety Week: Protect Your Child with the Right Car Seat

Campbell, CA – The Campbell Police Department is joining law enforcement agencies, public health departments, and other community organizations to raise awareness about the importance of keeping children in the correct car seat for their age and size.

During Child Passenger Safety Week, the Campbell Police Department encourages all parents and caregivers to make sure their children are riding safely by using the correct car seats, booster seats and properly fitted seat belts. This annual campaign takes place from September 21-27.

“We encourage every parent and caregiver to ensure their child is secured in the proper seat,” Chief Gary Berg said. “Taking the time to use the correct seat and installation can greatly reduce the risk of injury in a collision.”

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly half of car seats (46%) are misused. Properly installed car seats have been shown to reduce fatal injury crashes by 71% for infants under a year old and by 54% for toddlers ages 1 through 4. 

California law requires all children under 2 years old to ride in a rear-facing car seat, unless the child is 40 or more pounds or is 40 or more inches tall. Once a child reaches these milestones, all children under the age of 8 years old are still required to be secured in a car seat or booster seat, in the back seat. Children 8 and older, or who are at least 4 feet 9 inches tall, may be secured by a booster seat, but at a minimum must be secured by a safety belt.

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to keep children in the proper rear or forward-facing seat as long as possible and use the “Five-Step Test” to determine if their child is big enough to safely use a seat belt without a booster seat.

For the first time, the City of Campbell has developed a Parks and Recreation Master Plan! This Plan was a comprehensive effort dedicated to improving parks, recreation programs and recreation facilities. The effort sets the framework for future planning, maintenance, development, and rehabilitation of city parks and facilities. This document was adopted by the Campbell City Council on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

City of Campbell Earns Prohousing Designation from the State of California

Campbell, CA - The City of Campbell is proud to announce that it has received the Prohousing Designation from the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), recognizing the City’s commitment to accelerating housing production, implementing housing-friendly policies, and supporting affordable housing opportunities for all community members.

Under this designation, Campbell will receive priority processing or additional points when applying for several competitive state funding programs, including:

• Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC)
• Infill Infrastructure Grant (IIG)
• Transformative Climate Communities (TCC)
• Prohousing Incentive Program (PIP)

Only 65 jurisdictions out of 541 eligible in California have earned this designation, and Campbell ranked in the top 25% among them.

This designation can open the door to more resources for housing projects, priority in funding decisions, and infrastructure improvements that directly benefit the community. These funds can support everything from affordable housing and sustainable infrastructure to climate-friendly community enhancements.

“This recognition is a testament to Campbell’s proactive leadership in addressing housing needs while planning for a sustainable future,” said City Manager Brian Loventhal. “It positions us to compete more effectively for state funding that can help us expand housing opportunities and improve quality of life for our community.”
