Business Licenses

The Finance Department provides public service over the phone or via email Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM to answer any of your business license questions.  If you would like to meet with someone in person, City Hall will be open beginning October 11, 2021 to the public Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  While walk-ups service may be available, appointments scheduled ahead of time are highly recommended to ensure that staff is available to meet your needs.

Drop Box for Payments

A secure drop box is now set up outside the Finance Department entrance.  Payments for business licenses, rent payments and permit fees can be dropped off anytime in the drop box and will be processed by the next business day.

Guidelines

License rates and permit requirements vary according to the type of business and number of employees. Licenses are issued for one year at a time, and are renewable in the same month each year which the license was originally obtained. Renewal notices are issued annually, and if payment is not received in a timely manner, a penalty is imposed. The Santa Clara Clara County Fire Department conducts annual inspections of each Campbell business, and the Public Works and Building Departments additionally require proof of business license prior to issuing permits.

To speak with someone about obtaining a business license or questions about an existing license, please call (408) 866-2174 or send an email to businesslicenses@campbellca.gov.
