Q: What is Measure K?
A: If enacted, Measure K will establish a reliable source of funding to maintain police and fire protection, local streets, sidewalks, libraries, parks, and sports/recreation centers. Measure K is a 2024 local ½ cent sales tax which would generate approximately $7,000,000 per year for the City if enacted.
Q: Why was Measure K placed on the ballot?
A: Maintaining quality, core services help Campbell to remain a safe, beautiful, and vibrant place to live, work and raise a family, and maintain the value of our homes.
Q: Does Measure K maintain public safety?
A: Yes. Additional funding generated by Measure K will help maintain City services such as neighborhood patrols and officers on the street. The City also wants to invest in tracking/investigating crime and maintaining 911 response times.
Q: What about our parks?
A: In today’s digital age, it is more important than ever to give Campbell youth opportunities for sports and recreation. If enacted, Measure K could provide a local source of funds to invest in maintaining playgrounds, parks, and programs that keep kids active and learning, especially after school and in the summertime.
Q: What community priorities have been identified?
A: In a summer community survey, Campbell residents identified the following priorities: maintaining Campbell’s fiscal stability, emergency medical services, 911 response times, and fire protection services. Additionally, residents want our public spaces and parks to be safe and free of litter.
Q: What else is on the ballot?
A: November 5th is Campbell’s Municipal Election. In addition to Measure K, voters living in City Council Districts 1 and 2 can choose/elect their local city council representative. As this year is a Presidential election—in addition to federal and state candidates, there are state propositions and other local measures on your November ballot.
