Flowchart to help figure out which swim lesson is best

Parent Tot (6 mon-3 YRS)

Welcome all parents/guardians and tots (6 mo-3 yrs) who would like to dip their toes in and explore swimming! In this beginner class, we introduce your child to the water and all the fun things you can do. Parent and child will both be in the water with the instructor guiding you through floating, blowing bubbles, going underwater, assisted jumps into the water, and focusing on water safety. Please remember to take your child to the restroom before lessons. “Accidents” in the pool are a major disruption and require complete closure of the pool. Children who are not potty trained are required to wear a swim diaper.

Preschool 1 & 2 (3-5 YRS)

We welcome all swimmers (ages 3-5) who are new to swimming or just getting started in the water. This class focuses on water safety and getting your child comfortable in the water. Swimmers will learn how to submerge their face under the water, blow bubbles, bobbing, supported floating skills, water entries and exits, and arm and leg movement with support. All students must be ready for a class setting with other learners and be able to hold onto the pool wall with two hands. This class takes place in 3½ to 5 feet deep water.

  • Prerequisites: Minimum age of three (3); Must be able to hold onto the pool wall with two hands without physical support; Must be ready to be a class with other learners

Level 1 (6-12 YRS)

We welcome all swimmers (6-12 yrs) who are newer to swimming and working on getting comfortable in the water. This class focuses on water safety and getting your child comfortable in water where they can’t touch the bottom of the pool. Swimmers will learn how to swim underwater, blow bubbles, bobbing, supported floating skills, water entries and exits, and learn beginning freestyle (front crawl) and backstroke skills. All students must be able to hold onto the pool wall with two hands. This class takes place in 4 to 9 feet deep water.

  • Prerequisites: Minimum age of six (6); Must be able to hold onto the pool wall with two hands without physical support

Level 2 & 3 Flag Information

For Levels 2 and 3, swimmers need a flag to register. To get the flag, they must first complete a swim assessment. You can sign up for an assessment here - https://shorturl.at/ZWwbU. After the assessment, you'll be told which level you're ready for. Please allow up to 3 business days for the flag to be added.

  • Requirements for Level 2: Must be comfortable in the water and putting their face underwater; Must be able to swim 15 yrds in both freestyle (front crawl) and backstroke without physical support or stopping; Must be able to enter/exit the pool and learn skills without physical support
  • Requirements for Level 3: Must be able to swim 25 yrds in both freestyle (front crawl) and backstroke without physical support or stopping; Must be able to enter the pool and learn skills without physical support

Level 2 (6-17 YRS)

Swimmers jump into the pool or slide in from the side at the start of each class to get them warmed up and comfortable entering the water with minimal support. In Level 2, we focus on freestyle (front crawl) and backstroke as well as streamline glides into kicking and swimming. Swimmers will also dive underwater for rings, open their eyes underwater, and continue to build up their treading skills. Students in this level should be completely independent in the water, need minimal support when completing skills, and can swim 15 yrds in both freestyle (front crawl) and backstroke without physical support or stopping. This class takes place in 5 to 9 feet deep water.

  • Prerequisites: Level 2 flag required

Level 3 (6-17 YRS)

Advanced swimmers join us in Level 3 where we focus on increased endurance and strength in swimming. All swimmers should feel comfortable entering and exiting the pool independently by stepping or jumping in from the side without support. We focus on the smooth transition from gliding to swimming for freestyle (front crawl) and backstroke as well as learning dolphin, breaststroke, and side stroke kicks. Students build up their treading skills, learn sitting dives into the water, and swim lengths across the pool. This class takes place in both shallow and deep ends of the pool.

  • Prerequisites: Level 3 flag required
